edCampGR has been cancelled for 2016
Don’t worry though, we’ll be back! This time off will allow us to regroup and build an even better event for 2017. I’ve been in talks with a few of our neighbors, and we’re looking at creating an “edCamp Midwest Michigan” event in a bigger venue with a much larger attendee base.
edCamp’s are unlike most educator professional development. Instead of a planned agenda of topics determined by others, edcamps are an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment, discussions, demonstrations and interaction from participants who are the main actors of the event. We’re free from vendor presentations you might find at other events… this is a for teachers by teachers venue.
The feedback we received by our participants from EdCampGR 2015 was overwhelmingly positive, and we seek to make edCampGR 2016 into an even better learning experience. Because of our growing list of sponsors, we will be able to provide on-site lunch, which will serve to keep the conversations going all day long.
If you want to see some of the ideas people have for edCampGR – check out this document… and add your own ideas too.
edCamp Philly created a great overview video that should help explain the concept and why you as an educator should attend edCampGR:
